Anh em hãy biết điều này: nếu chủ nhà biết giờ nào kẻ trộm
đến, hẳn ông đã không để nó khoét vách nhà mình đâu.40 Anh em cũng vậy, hãy sẵn
sàng, vì chính giờ phút anh em không ngờ, thì Con Người sẽ đến.”
41 Bấy giờ ông Phê-rô hỏi: “Lạy Chúa, Chúa nói dụ ngôn này
cho chúng con hay cho tất cả mọi người? “42 Chúa đáp: “Vậy thì ai là người quản
gia trung tín, khôn ngoan, mà ông chủ sẽ đặt lên coi sóc kẻ ăn người ở, để cấp
phát phần thóc gạo đúng giờ đúng lúc?43 Khi chủ về mà thấy đầy tớ ấy đang làm
như vậy, thì thật là phúc cho anh ta.44 Thầy bảo thật anh em, ông sẽ đặt anh ta
lên coi sóc tất cả tài sản của mình.45 Nhưng nếu người đầy tớ ấy nghĩ bụng: “Chủ
ta còn lâu mới về”, và bắt đầu đánh đập tôi trai tớ gái và chè chén say sưa,46
chủ của tên đầy tớ ấy sẽ đến vào ngày hắn không ngờ, vào giờ hắn không biết, và
ông sẽ loại hắn ra, bắt phải chung số phận với những tên thất tín.
47 “Đầy tớ nào đã biết ý chủ mà không chuẩn bị sẵn sàng, hoặc
không làm theo ý chủ, thì sẽ bị đòn nhiều.48 Còn kẻ không biết ý chủ mà làm những
chuyện đáng phạt, thì sẽ bị đòn ít. Hễ ai đã được cho nhiều thì sẽ bị đòi nhiều,
và ai được giao phó nhiều thì sẽ bị đòi hỏi nhiều hơn.

Paralympic 2008 Bắc Kinh, thế giới sững sờ ngưỡng mộ tay bơi 22 tuổi
Christopher Tronco Sanchez, người Mexicô, “kình ngư kỳ lạ nhất thế giới” không
có tay, chỉ còn một chân, tranh giải bơi tự do 100m! Sanchez đã từng sở hữu 130
huy chương các loại về bơi lội. Tại Paralympic này cũng như tại khắp nơi trên
thế giới, biết bao nhiêu anh chị em khuyết tật đã không đầu hàng số phận. Hoàn
cảnh khó khăn, khả năng ít ỏi, họ đã nỗ lực vươn lên, sống vui, sống hữu ích
cho đời. Có ít mà họ đã làm ra được nhiều, hơn cả những người có nhiều hơn họ.
Được hay không những tấm huy chương, họ đều là những anh hùng khuyết tật, tấm
gương sáng cho chúng ta soi chung. Lời Chúa dạy chúng ta: Không có gì ta đang
có mà ta đã không lãnh nhận. Chúng ta chỉ là người quản gia những khả năng tinh
thần vật chất Chúa ban cho. Ngài đòi hỏi chúng ta phát triển tỷ lệ thuận với những
gì Ngài đã ban tặng: được giao phó nhiều thì cũng được đòi hỏi nhiều hơn.
Mời Bạn: Đôi khi
chúng ta phàn nàn về những thiếu thốn của mình. Nhưng hãy nhìn lại những gì
mình có và tự hỏi chúng ta đã phát huy hết các tiềm năng có sẵn của mình chưa?
Hay lại phung phí, làm hư hỏng những khả năng ấy? Phá hại môi trường, nhậu nhẹt,
cờ bạc, ma tuý và bao tệ nạn khác đều là không quản lý tốt ân huệ của Chúa.
Sống Lời Chúa: Quyết tâm sửa
chữa khuyết điểm mình mắc phải.
Cầu nguyện: Lạy Chúa,
con xin tạ ơn Chúa vì biết bao ân huệ Chúa ban xuống cho con. Xin cho con biết
phát triển những khả năng Chúa ban và dùng chúng để phục vụ tha nhân.

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according
to Saint Luke 12, 39-48.
Jesus said to his disciples: “Be sure of this: if the master
of the house had known the hour when the thief was coming, he would not have
let his house be broken into. You also must be prepared, for at an hour you do
not expect, the Son of Man will come."
Then Peter said, "Lord, is this parable meant for us or
for everyone?" And the Lord replied, "Who, then, is the faithful and
prudent steward whom the master will put in charge of his servants to
distribute (the) food allowance at the proper time? Blessed is that servant
whom his master on arrival finds doing so. Truly, I say to you, he will put him
in charge of all his property. But if that servant says to himself, 'My master
is delayed in coming,' and begins to beat the menservants and the maidservants,
to eat and drink and get drunk, then that servant's master will come on an
unexpected day and at an unknown hour and will punish him severely and assign
him a place with the unfaithful.
That servant who knew his master's will but did not make
preparations nor act in accord with his will shall be beaten severely; and the
servant who was ignorant of his master's will but acted in a way deserving of a
severe beating shall be beaten only lightly. Much will be required of the
person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person
entrusted with more.”

"Be prepared"
“Behold, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is the one who
watches and keeps his clothes ready” says the Lord (Rv 16:15)... When, then,
Christ said that his coming would be soon, yet by saying it would be sudden, he
said that to us it would seem long... How it is that Christianity is always
failing, yet always continuing? God only knows who wills it,—but so it is; and
it is no paradox to say, on the one hand, that it has eighteen hundred years,
that it may last many years more, and yet that it draws to an end, nay, is
likely to end any day. And God would have us give our minds and hearts to the
latter side of the alternative, to open them to impressions from this side,
viz. that the end is coming;—it being a wholesome thing to live as if that will
come in our day, which may come any day.
It was different during the ages before Christ came. The
Saviour was to come. He was to bring perfection, and religion was to grow
towards that perfection. There was a system of successive revelations going
on... Time was measured out for believing minds before Christ came, by the word
of prophecy... The chosen people were not bidden to expect him at once; but
after a sojourning in Canaan, and a captivity in Egypt, and a wandering in the
wilderness, and judges, and kings, and prophets, at length seventy long weeks
were determined to introduce him into the world. Thus his delay was, as I may
say, recognized then; and, during his delay, other doctrines, other rules, were
given to fill the interval.
But when once the Christ had come, as the Son over his own
house, and with his perfect Gospel, nothing remained but to gather in his
saints. No higher Priest could come,—no truer doctrine. The Light and Life of
men had appeared, and had suffered, and had risen again; and nothing more was
left to do... It was the last time. And hence, though time intervene between
Christ's first and second coming, it is not recognized in the Gospel scheme...
It runs, not towards the end, but along it, and on the brink of it; and is at
all times equally near that great event, which, did it run towards, it would at
once run into. Christ, then, is ever at our doors; as near eighteen hundred
years ago as now, and not nearer now than then; and not nearer when he comes
than now.
