LỜI CHÚA: Lc 12, 8-12
“Thầy nói cho anh em
biết: phàm ai tuyên bố nhận Thầy trước mặt thiên hạ, thì Con Người cũng sẽ
tuyên bố nhận người ấy trước mặt các thiên thần của Thiên Chúa.9 Còn ai chối Thầy
trước mặt thiên hạ, thì sẽ bị chối trước mặt các thiên thần của Thiên Chúa.
10 “Bất cứ ai nói phạm
đến Con Người, thì còn được tha; nhưng ai nói phạm đến Thánh Thần, thì sẽ chẳng
được tha.
11 “Khi người ta đưa
anh em ra trước hội đường, trước mặt những người lãnh đạo và những người cầm
quyền, thì anh em đừng lo phải bào chữa làm sao, hoặc phải nói gì,12 vì ngay
trong giờ đó, Thánh Thần sẽ dạy cho anh em biết những điều phải nói.”

chối Thầy trước mặt thiên hạ, thì cũng sẽ bị chối trước mặt các thiên thần của
Thiên Chúa. Bất cứ ai nói phạm đến Con Người thì còn được tha; nhưng ai nói phạm
đến Thánh Thần, thì sẽ chẳng được tha.” (Lc 12,9-10)
Suy
niệm:
Một bộ phận của cơ thể, một khả năng của con người nếu để lâu ngày không sử dụng,
sẽ teo lại vào bị đào thải. Mặt khác, nếu trong một thời gian dài, nó phải tiếp
xúc với những chất độc, nó sẽ dần mất đi sức đề kháng và bị nhiễm độc mà không
hay biết. Phần tâm linh của con người cũng tương tự như thế. Người ta cũng có
thể mất đi khả năng nhận thức Thiên Chúa nếu như trong suốt cuộc đời này họ nhắm
mắt tâm hồn, đóng cửa lòng mình trước Thiên Chúa. Mặt khác, ai thường xuyên đắm
chìm trong tội, người ấy cũng mất đi khả năng nhận ra mình có tội, và do đó
cũng không còn khả năng sám hối để được ơn tha thứ. Đó chính là những triệu chứng
của căn bệnh nghiêm trọng của thời đại: bệnh liệt kháng tâm linh.
Sống
Lời Chúa:
Để phòng chống bệnh liệt kháng tâm linh, xin đề nghị một “đơn thuốc”: 1/ làm thật
tốt những việc có tính làm chứng: làm dấu thánh giá trang nghiêm sốt sắng, y phục
đoan trang, tề chỉnh khi đi nhà thờ, loại bỏ ảnh hưởng khiêu dâm, bạo lực ra khỏi
nhà bạn...; 2/ luôn luôn kiểm điểm đời sống cách nghiêm túc để tạo sức đề kháng
mạnh đối với tội lỗi.

Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 12,8-12.
Jesus said to his
disciples: "I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before others the Son
of Man will acknowledge before the angels of God.
But whoever denies me
before others will be denied before the angels of God.
Everyone who speaks a
word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the one who blasphemes
against the holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
When they take you
before synagogues and before rulers and authorities, do not worry about how or
what your defense will be or about what you are to say.
For the holy Spirit
will teach you at that moment what you should say."

As Polycarp entered
the amphitheatre, a voice from heaven said: “Be strong, Polycarp, and have
courage.” No one saw who was speaking, but those of our people who were present
heard the voice... A great shout arose when the people heard that it was
Polycarp who had been arrested. As he was brought before him, the governor
asked him: “Are you Polycarp?” And when he admitted he was, the governor tried
to persuade him to recant, saying: “Have respect for your age”... “swear by the
Genius of the emperor. Recant... Curse
Christ!” But Polycarp answered: “For eighty-six years I have been his servant
and he has done me no wrong. How can I blaspheme my king and savior?”
But as the other
insisted once again... Polycarp answered: “If you delude yourself into thinking
that I will swear by the emperor's Genius, as you say, and if you pretend not
to know who I am, listen and I will tell you plainly: I am a Christian. And if
you would like to learn the doctrine of Christianity, set aside a day and
listen.” The governor said: “Try to move the people.” And Polycarp said: “I
should have thought you worthy of such a discussion. For we have been taught to
pay respect to the authorities and powers that God has assigned us (for this
does not harm our cause). But as for the mob, I do not think they deserve to
listen to a speech of defence from me.”
The governor said: “I
have wild animals, and I shall expose you to them if you do not change your
mind.” And he answered: “Go and call for them!”... He said again to him: “Since
you are not afraid of the animals, then I shall have you consumed by
fire-unless you change your mind.” But Polycarp answered: “The fire you
threaten me with burns merely for a time and is soon extinguished. It is clear
you are ignorant of the fire of everlasting punishment and of the judgement
that is to come, which awaits the impious. Why then do you hesitate? Come, do
what you will.”
All of this happened
with great speed, more quickly than it takes to tell the story: the mob swiftly
collected logs and brushwood from workshops and baths... When the fire was
prepared, Polycarp took off all his clothing, loosed his belt and even tried to
take off his own sandals, although he had never had to do this before: for all
the Christians were always eager to be the first to touch his flesh. Even
before his martyrdom he had been adorned in every way by reason of the goodness
of his life.
